Multiroofs
Land in North-West Europe is under increasing pressure due to urbanisation, demographic changes, technological development, and climate change, while the total amount of available land remains limited. The MultiRoofs initiative addresses this challenge by promoting the multifunctional use of urban rooftops for purposes such as renewable energy production, climate adaptation, biodiversity, social spaces, mobility, and utilities, often combining these functions to amplify benefits. By connecting public authorities, property owners, businesses, and researchers, the project develops digital tools, policy strategies, and financial incentives to scale rooftop solutions and support a greener, more resilient urban transition aligned with the goal of no net land take by 2050.
My role in the consortium has been supporting the preparation of the training scheme for local authorities, supervision of the software development, and the inclusion of knowledge representation techniques to consider expert knowledge.
